I use different methods, depending on circumstances and what I'm doing at the time. Most often, I just use the button on the back of the starter solenoid, but that's not very precise. For trying to get a very particular position, I'll put the gearbox in 4th gear and push the car.

Some folks just grab a fan blade, but I worry about possible damage to the blade (plus I haven't run a mechanical fan for a lot of years).

Hello guys, I need some advice on how to manually turn a TR4 engine. This is probably a real newbie question – so please be kind. Thanks in advance!
